Dibromodimethylhydantoin (DBDMH, commonly called DBDMH, CAS 77-48-5) is a multi-purpose bromine chemical with 99% purity. It stands out for high active bromine content, long shelf stability and cost-effective performance.

DBDMH has two major application directions. As a selective brominating agent, it is applied in fine chemical and pharmaceutical intermediate synthesis for allylic, benzylic and aromatic bromination. As a disinfectant, it releases hypobromous acid rapidly, widely used in aquaculture, circulating cooling water, swimming pool, surface sanitation and equipment sterilization. It works well in wider pH range than chlorine disinfectants and produces fewer harmful by-products.
